Foreign direct investments to Lebanon were on an upward trend until 2011, and were then subject to slight decline to reach USD 2.83 billion in 2013 as per UCTAD estimates, due to civil unrest in the region.
Despite a continuous decrease in foreign investment flows to the MENA region Lebanon managed to maintain a steady level of foreign direct investments registering an increase of 6.6% year-on-year, amounting to USD 3.1 billion in 2014, compared to USD 2.83 Billion in 2013.
Over the last 2 years, the majority of foreign investments to Lebanon were in the Services and Trade Sectors, with a notable increase of foreign companies investing in the various activities within the Media sector.
